Opinion (Probably Unpopular): Beyoncé

Okay, so I know that I’m probably in the minority on this but I don’t care. I don’t like Beyoncé. I do like some of her songs and sure I can agree that she has some talent. I also know that she supports a lot of charities and is quite musically accomplished and is a good role model for girls and it’s important for young girls specifically, to see a strong woman especially of color.

Now all that being said I do not think she is as amazing as everyone makes her out to be and certainly do not think she is “Queen Bey” nor will I ever be a part of the “Beyhive”. I think that’s ridiculous to be quite honest. I don’t know her personally obviously so I can’t be sure but from what I see in the media and I’m not talking trashy tabloids; I’m talking performances on TV, or on news outlets such as the Today Show (which I LOVE) and other articles on the internet, I’m just not a fan. Now I know that the internet can be argued as a “trashy tabloid” to a degree depending on where you’re looking but they are what I consider and I think many others would consider pretty respectable sources.

I specifically remember an article where the headline was something along the lines of “Beyoncé blesses us with pictures of her twins” now it was not exactly those words but that was the basic message. Now I did not read that article nor did I look at the pictures because I don’t care. To consider it a “blessing” that we get to see pictures of them is ridiculous. Now that has less to do with Beyoncé and more to do with the person who wrote the article but still it’s the fact that because it has to do with Beyoncé it’s so amazing that she deemed us worthy to see the pictures. I am so heavily rolling my eyes while writing this just so we’re clear.

Also, I remember watching her performance on the Grammy’s in 2017 while she was pregnant with her twins and I thought it was the most self involved thing I have ever seen. The message in the song may not have been, but the routine that went along with it certainly seemed like it to me. It was like she was the sun and everything and everyone revolved her, maybe that was the point but it just seemed so self involved and a little bit ridiculous to me.

Anyway, I guess that’s it. A lot of what I have been seeing lately has been about Beyoncé and it just reignited my dislike for her. I did not intend for my second post to be about her or to be a slightly negative one but I felt like I wanted to write it this morning so I did. As I said earlier I know this is probably not the most popular opinion and if you feel like you want to share your opinion of her in a comment whether it’s good or bad I will respectfully read it but I do not want any hate because this is just my opinion and I’m not going to change my mind nor does anyone actually care about my opinion of her anyway but it’s my blog and I can write whatever I like.
